New Jersey Pedestrian Accident Lawyer
Being struck while walking can leave you with treatment needs, missed work and uncertainty about the driver or insurance. Willis Injury Law helps people injured in New Jersey pedestrian collisions evaluate their options. We review where the incident happened, how the vehicles and people moved, and what evidence is available. Request a free case review or call (888) 218-INJURY (4658).
Understanding the location and sequence of events
A collision at a signal-controlled intersection can raise different questions from an incident in a parking lot, driveway or mid-block crossing. Tell us the precise location, direction of travel and what you remember about traffic signals, visibility and nearby vehicles. We examine the facts instead of assuming that the word pedestrian or the location alone settles responsibility. A driver’s account, a witness statement or an initial report may need to be considered alongside other evidence.
Evidence beyond the first account of the collision
Scene photographs, the crash report, witness contacts and available video may help explain the sequence. Nearby business cameras, doorbell cameras, transit cameras or vehicle recordings may be relevant, but their existence and availability must be investigated. Provide the approximate time and identify any business, building or vehicle you believe had a camera. Recording-retention practices vary; raise potential evidence sources promptly.
Keep original messages, photographs, report references and correspondence. If someone helped after the collision, their observations may be useful even if they did not see the impact. If you cannot remember part of the event, identify the gap rather than guessing. Do not revisit a dangerous location to gather evidence. Tell us whether a vehicle left the scene or whether identifying information is incomplete so those issues can be discussed during the review.
Documenting the injury and insurance questions
Medical documentation, treatment bills, work restrictions and records of missed earnings help explain the injury’s consequences. Keep a list of practical questions about recovery-related expenses and correspondence from insurers. The coverage analysis depends on the people, vehicles and policies involved; not owning a car does not provide a complete answer to which coverage may apply. We assess the available information and explain uncertainties rather than treating every pedestrian case alike.
Potential losses must be supported by the facts and records. A useful evaluation also considers responsibility, disputed evidence and coverage. A settlement amount from another person’s case cannot establish what an individual claim is worth. Bring the information you have; you do not need a complete file to request an initial review.
How Willis Injury Law helps pedestrians
Our work can include organizing the evidence, seeking relevant records, reviewing insurance positions and communicating with insurers. We explain what the evidence supports and what further investigation may be needed. When an offer is made, we help the client understand the issues it addresses and the options that remain. The appropriate course depends on the circumstances, not on a guaranteed result or timetable.
The firm is led by Michael T. Willis, who has 25 years of legal experience and five years of prior service as a Special Deputy Attorney General in New Jersey. Learn about our Hackensack office and other injury services.
Common pedestrian-accident questions
What if the driver left the scene?
Tell us what identifying details you have, which agency took the report and whether witnesses or cameras may help. Available insurance and investigative options require an individual review; no recovery can be assumed.
Can I request a review if I was outside a marked crosswalk?
Yes. Explain exactly where you were and what happened. Responsibility depends on the applicable rules and evidence, so the location should be evaluated rather than used as a shortcut to a conclusion.
