New Jersey Construction Accident Lawyer

A construction-site injury may involve several businesses, changing site conditions and questions about who controlled the work or equipment. Willis Injury Law helps injured people in New Jersey evaluate potential personal injury claims arising from construction incidents. Our review starts with the work being performed, how the injury occurred and the people or companies involved. Request a free case review or call (888) 218-INJURY (4658).

Identify the work, equipment and parties involved

Tell us the project location, your role and the task underway when the incident happened. A fall from a ladder, contact with moving equipment, a falling object or an electrical incident can require different evidence. Identify your employer, the property owner and any contractor or supplier you know was involved. Being present on a job site does not automatically make a business responsible. We examine its actual role, control and conduct in relation to the injury.

Workplace benefits and third-party claims are different

If the injury occurred while you were working, workers’ compensation and a potential claim against a responsible third party are different legal paths. New Jersey’s workers’ compensation program generally provides job-injury benefits without requiring proof of fault, while limits apply to civil claims against an employer. A separate third-party claim requires its own legal and factual basis, and recoveries can affect compensation reimbursement or credits. We discuss which issues need evaluation rather than assuming every job-site injury permits a lawsuit against every company.

The New Jersey Department of Labor’s injured-worker information explains the workers’ compensation framework. Bring any benefit notices, claim numbers and correspondence to the review. Tell us if another lawyer is handling a related matter so overlapping issues can be identified. This page concerns evaluation of potential construction-related personal injury claims; the appropriate representation depends on the matter.

Evidence that can change as the project moves on

Useful records may include scene photographs, witness details, incident reports, site photographs, equipment identifiers and communications about the work. Project conditions can change as work continues. Tell us whether equipment was removed, repairs were made or cameras may have recorded the event. Preserve the original records you already have, but do not re-enter an unsafe site or handle hazardous equipment to gather evidence.

Depending on the circumstances, relevant material may include inspection or maintenance records, work orders, delivery information, contracts and safety-related documentation. A safety concern or reported violation is a lead to investigate; it does not by itself resolve every issue in a civil claim. We review what records may exist and what steps are appropriate to request or preserve them. Do not assume that a particular document, recording or item of equipment remains available.

How we evaluate a construction-injury matter

We review the incident, the parties’ roles, insurance questions and supporting injury records. Medical documentation, work restrictions, bills and missed-earnings records can help explain the impact. Our work may include gathering relevant evidence, communicating with insurers and helping the client understand settlement proposals and other options. Responsibility, documented losses and applicable law guide the evaluation; no outcome or completion date is promised.

Common construction-accident questions

What if I do not know which contractor controlled the area?
Provide the names you know, photographs of company markings, your work information and the project address. Identifying the relevant businesses is part of evaluating what further investigation is needed.

Can I request a review if a benefit claim is already open?
Yes. Explain the benefit claim and any existing legal representation. A separate personal injury issue must be assessed carefully alongside the related matter; its existence cannot be assumed.
